How many hertz should my 4k monitor have?

The hertz indicates the refresh rate of a screen. A screen refreshes several times per second and this actually gives the illusion that images on the screen actually move. The higher this refresh rate, the smoother the image. A nice refresh rate for a fairly standard screen is 60Hz. This is more than enough for most tasks. For intensive video editing or gaming, it may be worth investing in a 120 or 144Hz screen. This makes your image run even smoother and allows you to react faster when playing games, for example.

What screen size do I need?

This is mainly determined by your own preference. There is no such thing as a "best" screen size. Some people like to work on a small screen and others on a large screen.
