Firewalls
A firewall is a system that helps protect a network against unauthorized access. Firewalls can be hardware-based, software-based, or a combination of both. Hardware firewalls are usually installed as part of a router or other network device, while software firewalls are usually installed on individual computers. Firewalls work by inspecting incoming and outgoing traffic and blocking or allowing specific types of traffic based on a set of rules. For example, a firewall can block all incoming traffic from a specific IP address or range of addresses. Firewalls can also be used to create virtual private networks, which provide an extra layer of security. When used properly, firewalls can be an effective means of protecting networks from unauthorized access. However, firewalls can also block legitimate traffic if they are not properly configured. Therefore, it is important to configure firewalls carefully to ensure that they provide the desired level of protection.
